Tóth decided to teach rats to play 1994’s Doom II in order to better understand brain computer interfaces, and now, in an article for Futurism, he thinks it may be beneficial to take the rats onto Twitch for some livestreaming. So, while former Feinstein Institutes neuroengineer Viktor Tóth didn’t have as flippant a reason to try as I suggested, last year he fulfilled that dream for some lucky rats in the name of science. Why does it always have to be us humans enjoying a good old rip and tear through hell on Earth or Mars? Surely even a rodent must dream of being Doom Guy? We live in a world where all sorts of things can play some form of the eternally badass FPS grandaddy known as Doom. Red Barrels hasn’t commented on why they made their decision, but perhaps they just didn’t want to have that in there to distract from the main story? We won’t know until someone from the team comments on it. Is Outlast 2 the right game to discuss this? That would be up to the developers, and it appears that they made the decision to not have that in the game. This gets into the whole discussion of what form of media is appropriate to tackle a subject like this, such as videogames. Now obviously, a serious subject like rape is something that shouldn’t be avoided in media (since sadly it happens in real life), and should be handled in an appropriate manner. The files in question are separate dialogue tracks, but when pieced together and played at the same time, it depicts Loutermilch graphically raping Jessica. However, the discovered audio (which you can hear here) confirms it. It is implied during the game that Loutermilch is molesting Jessica, but it’s not explicitly stated. The audio in question relates to the Father Loutermilch and Jessica Gray characters. Keep in mind that this next part potentially contains spoilers, so if you haven’t played the game, and don’t want to have a certain part ruined for you, well…Ī user on the Outlast 2 Reddit recently discovered cut audio while browsing through the game’s files. However, it appears that there was more cut content from the game that would’ve probably caused an even bigger sh*tstorm, and not just in Australia. In one gnarly sequence, she memorably appears before protagonist Blake in the nude, smothered in mud while her bodily form very clearly resembles that of a woman.īut those who dig into the game's collectible files may stumble across a document in the Compound basement called "Val's secret," where Val is referred to as a "he," accentuating the peculiar fact that Papa Knoth speaks of Val in masculine pronouns during the game.
